Dr. Solt is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Counseling at ÎçÒ¹AV and a nationally recognized expert in trauma-informed mental health and play therapy. With nearly three decades of clinical experience and over two decades in counselor education, Dr. Solt has worked across diverse settings, including crisis response, schools, agencies, residential care, and private practice, supporting individuals and families across the lifespan.

Dr. Solt earned her PhD in Counselor Education with a specialization in Play Therapy from the University of North Texas and her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Eastern Illinois University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, Board Certified in Neurotherapy, and a Certified EMDR Therapist and Consultant-in-Training, among numerous other advanced credentials.

At SMU, Dr. Solt has served in multiple leadership roles, including Clinic Director of the SMU Center for Family Counseling, and continues to mentor and train future counselors in areas such as trauma, neurobiology, addictions, and play therapy. She is also the founder of a private practice in Frisco, Texas, where she specializes across the lifespan using integrative, neuroscience-informed approaches.

A dedicated leader in the profession, Dr. Solt currently serves as Chair of the North Texas Chapter of the Texas Association for Play Therapy and is a past president of the organization. She is the recipient of the prestigious Nancy Guillory Award, the highest honor from the Texas Association for Play Therapy, in recognition of her significant contributions to the field.

Dr. Solt is an accomplished author, educator, presenter, and supervisor, having delivered over 100 professional workshops and contributed to numerous academic publications. Her work reflects a deep commitment to advancing trauma-informed care, integrating interpersonal neurobiology into counseling practice, and fostering resilience in children, families, and communities.
