My Sign-Ins

Manage your Microsoft account security information and settings, including multifactor authentication and verification methods.

Password Reset Tool

My Sign-Ins is an online service that offers members of the SMU community the ability to manage their Microsoft account security information and settings, including multifactor authentication and verification methods, 24/7 without the need to contact the IT Help Desk.

You can reset your passphrase using the Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) tool. To recover your account, enter your email or username and follow the prompts.

You can change your passphrase at any time, as long as you know it.

If you have lost your phone or device, you can use the My Sign-Ins portal to sign out everywhere.

Go Passwordless

After you've enrolled or reset your password, take 30 seconds to set up a passkey — a faster, phishing-resistant way to sign in without typing a password. Passkeys work with Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello, and password managers like 1Password, Bitwarden, and LastPass. You can register more than one, so set up a passkey on every device and app you use. Get started at smu.edu/passwordless — click "+ Add sign-in method" and choose Passkey.

Your SMU Passphrase

Take advantage of the 15 and 5

With the new requirement of 15 characters for the password, your SMU passphrase, in most cases, will not need to change for five years.

OIT will work to notifiy you prior to the expiration. All passwords must meet certain requirements, and can be reviewed in  (SMU credentials required).

Please Note: If you are using an SMU laptop and change your password from off campus, you will need to login with your old password and then connect to VPN. Once the VPN connection is established, the computer should synchronize the newly updated password.
